At Ayni Brigade, community service is more than just a phrase – it's woven into our very fabric (and you can see it in our name!). In May, a contingent from our New York office made their way uptown to lend a hand at the Food Bank for New York City at their Community Kitchen and Pantry in West Harlem. For four decades, these folks have led the charge against hunger in the Big Apple, dishing out over 140,000 meals each month to those in need.
After a quick orientation and assignment of duties, we dove straight into assisting the Food Bank staff with packing, organizing, and distributing much-needed meals. We were able to see firsthand the impact that organizations like the Food Bank for New York City have on combating food insecurity.ﾠ
As we reflect on the experience, it hits home how easily we take a warm meal and quality ingredients for granted. Working for a company that encourages us to roll up our sleeves like this doesn't just fulfill a mission – it fuels our fire to fight for what we believe in and address the issues we see around us.
